Oregon State Hospital has a 50% Job Share Rehabilitation Therapist position open in Crossroads Program

 

The Crossroads program provides services for people who have been civilly committed or voluntarily committed by a guardian. Patients each have an individual treatment care plan and attend the treatment mall every weekday. Groups help patients learn how to manage their symptoms and medications, develop coping and recreational skills, budget and manage their money, and plan and prepare meals. Community reintegration is the focus of weekly group trips to community settings. Treatment includes educational support, psychotherapy and help for alcohol and drug abuse.

St. Anthony Village is looking for a highly motivated, creative, compassionate, competent, computer literate and artistic person who loves working with seniors. This person will be in charge of continually developing and deepening our comprehensive Wellness/Enrichment/Activity Program for our residents. Our community includes assisted living, memory care and independent living. Facilitating and coordinating programming for our residents to have their wide and diverse range of social, spiritual, mental and physical needs met, is the focal point of our program. Honoring our identity as a Catholic faith based community, we strive to understand and know each resident so that we can show respect to them through our service.

(i.e. learn how to knit, paint, lead exercise, etc.) • Detail oriented (i.e. keeping the bulletin boards up to date, helping to distribute monthly calendars and newsletters to all residents) • Ability to recruit, orient, train and supervise volunteers and interns • An awareness of Catholic Community culture and values and an ability to create programming that supports our Catholic identity
Education or Experiences: • Bachelor’s degree, Associate degree or sufficient course work in Human Development and Aging, Therapeutic Recreation, Creative Arts Therapy or related field preferred; possession of Activities Director Certification desirable; one to three years’ experience working in the social services field with recreational programming; or any satisfactory combination of training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions.
Availability: • Available to work Mon-Frid 9-5:30 or 8:30-5; with occasional and very rare weekend or evening events
Pay is commensurate with experience.

Job Qualifications:

Certification and Licensure: Certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist required. May require valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets insurance carrier requirements

Special Skills & Abilities: Should be able to drive a van for transport of disabled patients. Involves treatment of patients who may be physically disabled, mentally or emotionally disturbed. Demonstrates competency as appropriate to the ages of patients served, in the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the patient’s needs; a knowledge of growth and development; and an understanding of the range of treatment needed by these patients.

Recreational Therapist in Seattle, Washingon

Providence is calling a Recreational Therapist (Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence ElderPlace in Seattle, Washington. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all – especially those who are poor and vulnerable.

In this position you will:

  • Conduct individual assessment to identify the participants’ individual interests/needs.

  • Develop and implement an appropriate variety of individual and group activities.

  • Participate in interdisciplinary care planning.

  • Coordinate the recreation documentation for the group participants.

  • Assist with training and supervising volunteers and/or youth job program assistants/student interns and their activities.

  • Lead facility wide participant-centered events.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Therapy

  • Valid Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) Certification from National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC)

  • Current Recreation Therapist registration in Washington State

  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)certification

  • A valid Washington State driver’s license and have access to daily use of an insured reliable vehicle or an alternate ability to travel to sites as required

  • Two years experience in providing recreation with the elderly or disabled

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate for Healthcare Providers (will be required within three months of hire date)

  • Current Food Handler’s Permit (will be required within three months of hire date)
